What should be in my book on Monday?

WI's are due Sept. 20th/Monday!
You should have this done when you walk in the door. You will not be working on your book during studio time.

1. 10 Images of Art in your world. ( No images from internet, books, etc... you should take the picture. Digital cameras are always available for check out!

2. A short explanation of why you chose the image. Why do you consider it ART?

3. Images of work in progress (Containment pieces) What have you got done? Images of the process. What is working? What is not working? Ideas that you have?

4. All pages must be dated and numbered. Fill the pages. See examples on the blog.

What is CULTURE?

CULTURE: e.g. an exploration of influences from a nation's culture, an art movement, an individual artist,or a single work of art. Recognize the unique qualities of your own ethnic culture and that of your host country or of any country. It could be contemporary, historic, or a comparative study.

A culture can be described as learned and shared beliefs, vlaues, interests, attitudes, products or patterns of behavior. Culture is dynamic and organic and operates on many levels-international, national, regional, local, and social interest groups.

WI's Due: Monday September 13th!

Remember to include 10 images from art in your world. You must take the photos yourself. They should be printed and included in your book. Make sure you include notes and reflections about each image.

If you did not include artists and processes that will inform and inspire your work in your book previously, be sure to get them in this time!! Cite all sources! Number and date all pages!

Document work being made in class. Jot down ideas, make sketches and put all of this in your book. Both success and failure should be documented. (Whats working? Whats not?)

A.P. 3-D Requirement Reminder!

The 3-D Design portfolio category includes any kind of art that exists in three dimensions. Submissions in this category should explore three-dimensional depth and space, but there are no limitations or restrictions on size,materials, or style of work. The submission requirements for the 3-D Design category are different from the other AP meaning that the size of the works included in the protfolio is entirely determined by the student.
For the Quality section of the portfolio, include a total of 10 images (two different views of 5 works)
For the concentration section, include 12 images, some of which may be details.

The Breadth section should include a total of 16 images (two diffent views of 8 different works.)

QUALITY/10 (2 VIEWS OF 5 WORKS)

CONCENTRATION/ 12 IMAGES/ SOME MAY BE DETAILS

BREADTH/16 IMAGES (TWO DIFFERENT VIEWS OF 8 DIFFERENT WORKS)

What will the I.B. Examiner be looking for?

Studio Work:

1. Experimentation and the development of ideas in artwork leading to successful resolution.

2. The selection and use of a variety of artistic and cultural strategies, media, and style.

3. An ongoing process of review, modification and refinement.

4. Inventive approaches to experimentation and exploration using div erse strategies, ideas, techniques and media

5. The ability to select and employ materials appropriately leading to coherent use of materials.

6. The development of a sense of self in relation to other people, places, and times.

7. Knowledge of how to make informed reflective, critical judgments, and use them when evaluating their own studio work, or the ability to pose questions and work towards solving their own problems.
